When You're 30

I turned 30 last year. I took a good long look in the mirror to see if I looked any older. I slightly gained weight but, still the same (I think so). But still, everyone, my friends and my family kept making a big deal about it. "Oh my gosh, you're 30!" or “ I can’t believe you’re 30!”, as they said. Worst, my own sister will often tease me, “Ate! You’re old!”… Grrrr! What the h@?! I’m not a grandma!

While it really shouldn't be a big deal, when you’re 30, you're supposed to be responsible. You’re supposed to think about age appropriateness such as the way you dress, or the way you act, or the way you talk. You're supposed to start thinking about settling down and having a family. Kasi nga tumatanda na daw! Clearly there are expectations. (whew! pressure!).

I wish I have wisdom in this area. Essentially, must I present myself differently now that I am 30? Must I be pressured by my family and friends? Or should I take note of the words "age is just a number". I still love to wear my shorts and lose t-shirts with simple lipstick and face powder guys.
